How To Make The Most Out Of Your Winter Vacation

Winter is finally here, bringing a ton of fun even after the snow starts falling. And while the weather may be a bit unpredictable this time of the year, there are still plenty of activities you can venture out and enjoy with just a little preparation!

Let’s look at a few activities you and the whole family can enjoy this season in beautiful Langley!

Need something indoors? Why not head over to the National Hockey Training Center? The center has year-round hockey and ice skating programs, ice rentals, free skate nights, and more! It is the perfect opportunity to get out, move, and get active with your kiddos before enjoying a nice meal and heading home! You can also check out a hockey game and support one of not one, but two local teams!

Want something more in the holiday spirit? Pick your tree early from one of any number of tree farms in the area! You can go out and find the perfect pine for your in-home display from any pre-cuts, or maybe you want to be a little bit more adventurous and go out and cut your own! We’ve got Aldor Acres Tree Farm, Frosty’s Christmas Trees, Fern Creek Farm, and many more where you can find your ideal tree for the season!

Ready to take it back outdoors and enjoy some of the best that Langley has to offer during the winter months? Check out Glow Gardens, where you can wander through light shows featuring millions of glittering lights, visit Santa, browse the market, and more. At this event, there is something for everyone, with littles able to ride the Holiday train or hop into an epic scavenger hunt, and adults can enjoy the live entertainment and delicious cuisines from around the world! Check out the Christmas Glow website for tickets and more information!

Or maybe you want to do some last-minute shopping. Well, iMADE is a curated event where independent local small businesses, both new and growing, can join together to share their goods and creativity with the public. It’s the ideal opportunity to cross every name off your holiday shopping list. You’ll find everything from food vendors to artisans, craft stalls, and everything. If you can’t find it here, you probably won’t be able to find it anywhere!

And to round out all the hustle, bustle, and fun, why not drop by Aldergrove’s annual Christmas Light Up parade, held on December the fourteenth? You can watch the beautiful lighted parade go by with a hot coffee or cocoa and enjoy the caroling and fun sights. The parade route runs along Fraser Highway and down through downtown Aldergrove, meaning there are plenty of places to park yourself to take in all the views.

And finally, the mountains are calling – why not answer them? The Langley area has plenty of local ski resorts and trails, making it the perfect place to go snowboarding, ski, and enjoy the great outdoors. With freshly packed snow and a delightful atmosphere, you can easily spend the day or entire weekend in any of these places before returning to your rented room to warm back up!

That’s a wrap, folks! Hopefully, this list gave you an idea (or two) of what you can expect from Langley this winter season, be it with family and friends or riding solo. I know I’ll enjoy those light-up events (and a nice warm drink), and I’ll see you again after the New Year! Have fun, stay safe, and follow my blog and socials for more!
