There’s nothing better than exploring the sights and sounds of Langley, BC!
This popular tourist area attracts a whole host of events, ranging from all-day wine tours to music festivals and so much more! So let me take you on a short go-round of some of my favorite go-to spots and events that you can visit this summer!
Siloam Theatre Festival
When – June 2nd through the 11th
Want to be a patron of the arts, or are you just looking for something different? Why not check out the Siloam Theatre Festival, hosted the first week of June. This festival, now in its third year and still going strong, features new and original works by local authors. You can be sure there will be something for everyone: drama, comedy, and musicals, all written by local writers. The writers who created these new and original works receive most of the revenue, so you’ll be getting entertainment, but you’ll also be giving your right back to the community!
7 Generations Cup
When – June 10th through the 12th
How about something a bit more athletic? In the tradition of earlier events that brought the skateboard world to B.C., the 7 Generations Cup brings together top skaters for a tournament that honors skateboarding history, culture, and fun. The Langley Events Centre will accommodate 10,000 to 15,000 spectators for a three-day series of professional skateboard events, ranging from the Mini Ramp Challenge to the Freestyle Cup. Indigenous rites will be held, as well as a vendor marketplace, displays, and music.
Langley Libations Tour
When – June 18th
Is something a little more ‘boozy’ your style? Then maybe check out the Langley Libations Tour! Craft liquor manufacturing has increased dramatically in the Township of Langley since 2016. Trading Post Brewing, Fraser Valley Cider, Festina Lente Meadery, and Roots and Wings Distillery have teamed up to highlight the diversity of Langley’s creative beverage sector. This day-long, four-stop tour is a must for any wine enthusiast. A $25 ticket includes a tasting glass, samples, cuisine at all four venues, and live music!
Aldergrove Fair Days
When – July 11th through the 17th
Who doesn’t love a fair? And not to mention that this is the one hundred and tenth annual Aldergrove Fair, one of the longest-running fairs in BC! This year the fair will encompass a whole week of activities. Aldergrove Fair Week will offer a range of community events from Monday to Thursday (July 11th through the 14th), culminating in the Aldergrove Fair from Friday to Sunday, July 15-17, 2022, in collaboration with local companies, community organizations, and sponsors.
2022 Odlum Brown Fort Langley Jazz Festival
When – July 21st through the 24th
Between July 21 and 24, 2022, this great Jazz & Arts Festival will present a mix of ticketed shows and free community events, with 60 bands and 300 musicians performing on eight indoor and outdoor stages. Enjoy art displays, a Kidz Zone, the Kwantlen Art & Cultural area, food trucks, street entertainment, and more! There will be something for every jazz lover, from blues, big band, jazz vocalists and musicians, jazz-funk fusion, Afro Dominican Latin jazz, soul-gospel, and more; there will be something for every jazz enthusiast!
BC Open
When – July 22nd through the 24th
If you have never seen a disc golf tourney, then why not enjoy this one? The BC Open is a three-day disc golf tournament that has been held in various locations in the Lower Mainland since 2005 and is currently regarded as Western Canada’s premier disc golf event. Over 240 amateur and professional players from across Canada and the United States attend this event every year. Raptor’s Knoll Disc Golf Park, a Championship Level Disc Golf Course in the Township of Langley, will host this year’s BC Open.
Ribfest Langley
When – August 12th through the 14th
Why not wrap up the dog days of summer with a nice, big pile of ribs? With delicious food, a delightful atmosphere, and live music, this Ribfest is the perfect way to spend a day (or two) diving into local cuisine and experiencing the best that Langley has to offer. Held in Macleod Athletic Park, the festival celebrates everything that makes Langley great, and I, for one, won’t miss it!
These events are only a small but exciting part of what makes the Langley area special and unique. Whether coming out for the day or staying for the weekend, you’ll find so many great ways to entertain yourself. You can find it all right here, right in Langley, from arts and culture to live music and gourmet festivals, athletic events, and more.
